("Jäger Apps," "we," "us"). By downloading, installing, or using Shimo, you ("you," the "Licensee") agree to these Terms.
Shimo is a client application that helps you create, manage, and connect to VPN configurations of your choosing (for example, your employer's VPN, a third-party VPN provider's servers, or your own infrastructure). Jäger Apps does not operate any VPN servers and is not a VPN service provider. We have no access to, and no responsibility for, the availability, security, legality, or content of any third-party VPN service or network you connect to using Shimo. Your relationship with any VPN service you connect to through Shimo is governed solely by your agreement with that service.
Shimo is sold as a one-time purchase (perpetual license) for a specific major version, via our authorized reseller Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd / Paddle.com, Inc.), which acts as the merchant of record for your purchase.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of the applicable fee, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to install and use Shimo on Mac computers you own or control, for as long as these Terms remain in effect. If you purchased a multi-seat/team license, the number of concurrently activated installations is limited to the number of licenses purchased.
Ownership of the Software, including all intellectual property rights in it, remains with Fabian Jäger / Jäger Apps at all times. This license does not transfer ownership of the Software to you.
You may not:
Shimo 6 requires an Apple Silicon Mac running a supported version of macOS. Support for Intel-based Macs may be limited or unavailable, reflecting changes to Apple's own platform support (including macOS 27 "Golden Gate," which discontinues support for non-Apple Silicon apps). Please check current system requirements on shimovpn.com before purchasing.
For as long as you can reasonably expect based on the type and purpose of Shimo and the nature of this Agreement (in line with § 327f BGB), we will provide the updates — including security updates — necessary to keep Shimo conforming to these Terms, for the major version you purchased. We may also, at our discretion, offer optional feature updates or upgrade offers for later major versions.
If you are a consumer purchasing from within the EU/UK, you generally have a 14-day right to withdraw from the purchase without giving reasons, in accordance with Directive 2011/83/EU and applicable national law. If you actively download or activate Shimo before the 14-day period expires, and you have expressly acknowledged that this causes you to lose your right of withdrawal (as presented at checkout), your right of withdrawal ends once download/activation begins, in accordance with § 356(5) BGB (or the equivalent provision in your jurisdiction). Refund requests are handled by Paddle as the merchant of record — contact Paddle support or use the link in your order confirmation email.
We provide Shimo with reasonable care and skill. Statutory warranty rights available to consumers under mandatory law (including § 327 et seq. BGB for digital products) are not affected by these Terms. Beyond that, Shimo is provided "as is," and we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every third-party VPN service or network configuration.
To the extent permitted by law:
This license takes effect upon your purchase and continues until terminated. We may terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms and fail to remedy the breach within a reasonable period after notice. Upon termination, you must stop using and uninstall Shimo. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except as required by mandatory law or Paddle's refund policy.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of habitual residence remain unaffected. If you are a merchant (Kaufmann), the exclusive place of jurisdiction is Berlin, Germany.
The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution (ODR), available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged, and not willing, to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (Verbraucherschlichtungsstelle) within the meaning of the German Consumer Dispute Resolution Act (VSBG).
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the Software or applicable law. The "Last updated" date reflects the current version. Continued use of Shimo after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, to the extent permitted by law; where required, we will seek your renewed consent for material changes.
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Jäger Apps regarding your use of Shimo, alongside Paddle's Buyer Terms governing your purchase transaction.
